Every player starts with a Vampirism Guidebook in their inventory. It contains information about everything added by the mod, crafting recipes and character development guide. This article will be a summary of this book – it is worth to check at the source for more information.
The main difference between fractions comes
down to the source of power – vampires become physically faster and stronger,
while hunters use powerful weapons, armour and potions made from vampire blood
to fight with them.
As a vampire you move faster, don’t need oxygen and can fly as a bat, but you are damaged by the Sun, get weakened by water and as a bat can die from as little as single arrow. You can also feed yourself only on blood of living beings, which can be cumbersome if there isn’t anything alive around at the time. Oh, and you’re an undead monster, cursed by God and people alike – the things one does for immortality, right?
As a hunter, physically you’re almost no different than normal human, but you gain access to new weapons, armour and potions, unavailable to vampires and normal humans. You are also immune to vampire sickness and your blood is toxic to them. You are also the only hope of humanity in the war against the undead bloodsuckers, so take your stake and go to work, Brother! Amen!
To become a vampire, you have to get
infected by Sanguinare Vampiris, which can be done by stabbing yourself with
vampire fangs, injecting yourself with vampire blood or simply by getting bitten
by a vampire – be it a player or a mob. After the sickness ensues, it takes a
full minecraft day for the transformation to finish – in that time you still
can cure yourself with a bucket of milk.
To become a hunter you have to inject yourself with a special garlic-based vaccine. To do so, you need to find a Vampire Hunters Base in a random village, gather garlic which grows nearby, craft the vaccine and apply it using a special injection chair standing in the base.
In the EQ menu there is a button that opens
a character development window in which you can distribute points to unlock new
skills. Those points are gained by levelling up – your level is visible above minecraft
experience bar.
If you’re a vampire, the mod will add red
eyes and fangs to your skin – you can control their appearance in a menu which
can be opened with a button located in the character development window on the
bottom left corner (the vampire head icon).
As a vampire, to level up you need to craft
an altar and gather items required in the ritual. On the first levels that’s
just blood, but after that, you’ll need human hearts, vampire baron’s blood and
special vampire books.
As a hunter, your first levels can be gained by offering hunter-NPCs some vampire fangs. Later, you’ll need to craft hunter intel and offer it to a hunter officer (who can be found in hunter bases in villages) Intel can be crafted on a special research table and it requires items such as: vampire baron’s blood, vampire books and normal minecraft books.
